* Dermsocopy uses an instrument called a dermatoscope to examine skin lesions (spots or lumps on the skin) with bright lighting and magnification. Is allows structures below the surface of the skin to be viewed in detail and increases the accuracy of diagnosis of pigmented skin lesions. Consequently fewer benign moles are removed for pathological diagnosis.
** Suspicious moles that don’t meet the criteria for removal can be monitored over time using the MoleMax II system which allows for storage and comparison of sequential images, to assist in identifying new lesions and change in existing lesions.
